School trips to return to some bus routes in Comox Valley

To help students get to school, BC Transit and the Comox Valley Regional District announced changes to the transit system.

In the announcement, they say that school trips will return to six bus routes in the Valley, all as part of increased funding from the local and provincial governments.

Those routes are Route 1 Comox Mall/Anfield Centre via North Island College, Route 2 Cumberland/Anfield Centre, Route 3 Comox local, Route 4 Driftwood Mall/Comox Mall via Comox Road, Route 5 Vanier, and Route 99 VMP Connector.

Along with the trips, more hours will be added to Route 10 during the week and Saturdays, with hopes it can help bring better connections with Nanaimo’s Route 99 to Qualicum Beach.

Transit says more hours will be added to the HandyDART, where it will run from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The trips will be in effect starting on Labour Day, just before the fall semester starts.
