The Village of Cumberland will be flushing sanitary sewer mains starting today.
The Village says the goal is to get rid of any grease, gravel, and other debris blocking sewer lines in the area, all as part of a maintenance program.
During this flushing, you should leave toilet lids closed to avoid splashing, which could happen because of water and air being forced through the mains from the cleaning process.
While there shouldn’t be any smell, the Village adds you may notice a sewer odour if standing water gets cleared from the draining taps in your home.
If you smell this odour, you should run water in all drains, including floor ones to get rid of it after the flushing ends.
