MP Barron says she’s trying to make sense of liberal retreat

As the federal liberal’s retreat in Nanaimo continues, a Vancouver Island MP says she’s trying to make sense of it.

Nanaimo-Ladysmith MP Lisa-Marie Barron says the community has been disappointed in the Liberals for a long time.

“This is not new in Nanaimo, and that’s the sentiment that I’m getting that people are a little confused as to why the Liberals are coming to Nanaimo,” said Barron.

She says there’s so much happening within the party that shows a lack of unity right now, which comes as people feel disappointed across the country.

She hopes through this retreat, they can see first-hand the issues affecting the community such as housing, climate crisis, and groceries.

The retreat will run from September 9 to the 11 at the Vancouver Island Convention Centre.

In the 2021 election the NDP swept Vancouver Island, and only one liberal MP was elected for the West Vancouver/Sunshine Coast riding.
