Suspect arrested and charged with robbery, assault after incident in McDonald’s parking lot

One male suspect is in custody after a robbery and assault of a woman on Sunday, September 22.

Around 8:45 p.m., a 64-year-old reported she had been assaulted in the parking lot of McDonald’s along Cliffe Avenue.

The victim told investigators she asked the man if he needed help before the male allegedly assaulted her and took her wallet.

Officer in Charge of the Comox Valley RCMP Inspector Scott Mercer said the suspect was unknown to the woman.

“This appeared to be an unprovoked attack.  I am proud of the response and efforts made by our investigators to apprehend the person believed to be responsible.”

Police used video surveillance to identify a suspect.

Gibson was charged with robbery and assault causing bodily harm on Tuesday and is being held in police custody pending a court appearance.
