Mark R Isfeld put into lockdown Thursday afternoon

Students and staff at Mark R Isfeld Secondary School underwent a precautionary lockdown Thursday afternoon. 

Around 1 p.m. on October 10, RCMP received a report of a person heading to the school with a weapon, forcing them to place the school into lockdown. 

Cst. Monika Terragni of the Comox Valley RCMP said one person had been taken into custody. 

“The investigation is still in its early stages; however, I can confirm that a youth has been taken into custody without incident and there is no ongoing threat to the safety of students, staff, or to the public.” 

The lockdown only lasted for approximately 20 minutes, ending around 1:20 p.m. 

Classes in the afternoon continued for the day.
