WEEK IN REVIEW
It was another tough week for the Glacier Kings, dropping a home matchup to Lake Cowichan Saturday night 1-0, and a road contest to the Kerry Park Islanders 4-1.
Head Coach Curtis Toneff said he liked his team’s performance against Lake Cowichan, but it was one of those games where both goalies got hot and it’s two points they need to make up in the future.
Toneff said he liked their start on Sunday afternoon against the Islanders, but too many penalties made it difficult to win the game.
“They’re on the powerplay 12 or 14 minutes, they’re going to score eventually, and that they did.”

The Glacier Kings start off this weekend with a road trip down to Victoria Friday night to face the Victoria Cougars.
The two teams met just two weekends ago, with the Glacier Kings coming away with a 3-1 home victory.
Toneff said despite the win a few weeks ago, he didn’t like their start to that game, something he said they’ll need to do to break their recent struggles.
“We got to play a simple hockey game and put the work boots and the hard hat on and go snap this mini slide here and get back to work against a good hockey club.”
Victoria holds a 7-9-3-0 record, sitting in fourth place in the South Division and just one point ahead of the Glacier Kings in the overall standings.
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 9 7:45 P.M. VS KERRY PARK ISLANDERS
It will be a quick turnaround from Sunday’s contest for both the Glacier Kings and Islanders as they will once again meet Saturday night at the Comox Valley Sports Centre.
Staying out of the box will be key Toneff said, after his team had 46 penalty minutes in their last matchup.
Despite the young team, Toneff said everyone has enough game experience now to not be considered rookies ahead of an important upcoming stretch of games.
“That stretch now is here from Remembrance Day to Christmas, it’s a lot of important points on the line to stick with a playoff positioning and all that stuff and we got to start this weekend by taking advantage of it.”
It will be the two teams’ third matchup of the year, with each team winning one game so far.
The Islanders sit in third in the South Division, just five points back of Westshore and Peninsula for first place.
