Holiday festivities will close a part of Downtown Courtenay Friday.
One block of Comox Avenue will be closed to traffic from Port Augusta Street to Nordin Street from 12:00 to 8 p.m., with no parking in the closed area starting at 8 a.m.
The closure is due to the annual Comox mayor tree lighting ceremony and the Winter Market event.
The Winter Market starts at 3 p.m. and runs until 7 p.m. and features selfies with Santa starting at 4 p.m.
The mayor’s tree lighting ceremony will be at 5:15 at the Town Circle and Comox businesses will remain open until 7 p.m.
All traffic is advised to plan an alternate route ahead of time as only emergency vehicles will be permitted access during the closure if necessary.
