A new poll on the popularity of Canada’s premiers shows BC leader David Eby has neither gained, nor lost popularity since the election.
The Angus Reid Institute says Premier Eby faced a challenge in the October election and emerged with just enough seats to win a majority government.
However, his own approval rating among members of the public did not change.
Eby’s popularity has been between 43 and 48 per cent after he was sworn in as premier, and currently sits at 46 per cent.
Though he hasn’t enjoyed a post-election boost, more than two-in-five in the province say they approve of his performance.
The Angus Reid Institute notes the NDP government faced criticism for not holding a fall session of the legislature.
The opposition claims Eby isn’t following through on an election promise to immediately deal with issues like health care, cost of living, and public safety.
Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew has the highest approval rating of any premier in the country for the fifth consecutive quarter at 67 per cent.
Ontario’s Doug Ford is ranked the lowest at 34 per cent.
