Comox Valley RCMP welcome new service dog Magic to the detachment

Comox Valley RCMP has a new four-legged companion to help with situations.

Police service dog Magic, along with partner Cst. Chris Johnson is the newest member to the force.

Magic was born in 2019 at the RCMP Police Dog Training Centre in Alberta and raised through the Imprinting Program in Manitoba.

The two were partnered together in 2020 and completed a six-month basic dog handlers’ course in Alberta, before being stationed in the Lower Mainland for the last three years.

Magic is used in subject tracking, suspect apprehension, search and rescue, evidence detection, and explosive detection.

The two are currently settling into their new role in the Comox Valley and hope to make a positive impact.
