RCMP and Coroner investigate fatal fire in Comox

The RCMP and BC Coroner’s Service are investigating a fatal fire that broke out early Wednesday morning in Comox.

The Comox Valley RCMP says at approximately 1:15 am, emergency crews responded to a report of a house fire on the 1900-block of Toronitz Road in Comox.

Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters began a search of the residence and found a victim inside.

The RCMP says the identity of the individual is believed to be known, but a positive identification has yet to be made.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but it is not believed to be criminal in nature.
