19 Wing crews respond to helicopter crash

Two people escaped with minor injuries after a helicopter crash-landed about 35 kilometres west of Nanaimo.

Captain Todd Geunther with the Joint Rescue Coordinator Centre says they got the call just before noon today…

Geunther says a Comorant helicopter from 19 Wing Comox flew the 2 occupants to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, where they were treated and released.

He says the Safari helicopter was heading out to a remote lake when it went down and the cause of the crash isn’t clear at this point.
