New top cop sets up shop in Comox Valley

The new top cop at the Comox Valley RCMP detachment is now settling into the job, getting a feel for the area, and reaching out to local residents and community leaders. RCMP Inspector Tim Walton spoke to Goat News.

Inspector Walton’s last posting was at RCMP headquarters in Ottawa, and later this weekend he moves into his valley home. He says he plans to continue with the local policing strategy, targetting a relatively small number of individuals carrying out the majority of crimes in the area.

As for areas for improvement on the policing front, Inspector Walton says he needs some time to make that assessment.

Inspector Walton has served in seven different provinces and territories in a lengthy RCMP career.
