Malahat highway closed after 4 injured in crash

Four people have been sent to hospital after a collision on the Trans-Canada Highway outside of Victoria.

The accident happened at around 9:00 AM where Highway 1 intersects with Finlayson Arm Road in the Goldstream Provincial Park area.

In order to avoid traffic backing up, officials are asking motorists to use Pacific Marine Route and the Brentwood Bay Ferry.

Paramedics say all four were taken to Victoria General Hospital. Two of the individuals are in critical condition, while the other two are stable.

The closure is expected to last until about 3:00 PM.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Just a heads up for drivers in the Comox Valley: Highway 19A is closed both directions south of Courtenay between Berray Rd and Cook Creek Rd. Use alternate route.
