Big boost for adult literacy programs
Adult literacy programs across BC are getting a cash infusion.
The province is investing $2.4 million dollars in 75 programs, including ones in Courtenay, Campbell River, Powell River, Duncan, Sechelt, and Nanaimo.
Parksville Qualicum MLA Michelle Stilwell made that announcement on behalf of BC’s Advanced Education Minister.
Cheryl Dill, executive director of the Career Centre, says the funding they’re receiving will go a long way.
Stilwell adds the province has invested more than $25 million in community adult literacy programs since 2001, which has helped more than 93,000 adults improve their reading and writing skills.
