Comox Fire to hold Hazmat training

Firefighters will be put to the test this weekend and next, as the Comox Fire Training Centre serves as the host venue for an important course.

Comox Fire Chief Gord Schreiner says the four-day Hazmat Operations program is the second level of Hazmat training for firefighters.

He adds it’s a course they’ve been offering for many years now, and it attracts firefighters from all over Vancouver Island.

He says at the Training Centre, there are four buildings that offer plenty of chances to cover a variety of emergency scenarios.

Schreiner says the training is split between 2 weekends, starting this Saturday and concluding on Sunday, September 20th.
