Duncan pledges support for downtown-to-downtown ferry service

Conservative candidates from around Vancouver Island were in Nanaimo today to make a major campaign pledge.

Led by Courtenay-Alberni’s John Duncan, the only Conservative incumbent running, they’ve promised a re-elected government would offer financial support for Island Ferry Service; the company trying to start a passenger only service between Nanaimo and downtown Vancouver.

And Duncan says should things play out that he’s back in Ottawa, but not in government…he’ll keep pushing to get the project federal funding.

The company, at this point, says it hasn’t asked for a funding promise from the other parties.
