No injuries were reported but 3 people were forced to vacate a Willow Point home earlier this week due to a fire inside the building.

Campbell River fire crews arrived at the home near Willow Point Park to find the homeowner had managed to calm the fire using an extinguisher.

Deputy Fire Chief Chris Vrabel says the house was filled with a combination of smoke and dry chemical powder, but damage was limited to only one small area.

The investigation revealed that the fire was caused by a piece of wooden furniture being placed up against an electrical heating appliance.
