No critical injuries after incident with B.C. Wildfire Service helicopter

Officials said there were no critical injuries after a B.C. Wildfire Service helicopter made a “forced landing” near Pemberton late Wednesday morning.

“I am relieved to let you know that all occupants are accounted for and there are no critical injuries. First-responder agencies are on-site or en route and they will provide more updates as they come,” said B.C. Forest Minister Ravi Parmar said during a wildfire update.

B.C. Wildfire Service Director of Operations Cliff Chapman said there were four crew members aboard, including the pilot, and all are accounted for.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Chapman said the crew members were walking from the landing site to the Pemberton fire base with the help of emergency responders.

He said the condition of the crew would be assessed at the base and further details would be released at a later time.

Officials said the cause of the incident has not yet been determined.
