Great news! That from Kathleen Haggith, the Dean of Health and Human Services at North Island College, on a recent funding shot from the BC Government.
The provincial government is setting aside $1.5 million to fund 183 new health-education spaces at nine public post-secondary institutions, and North Island College is getting a piece of the action…receiving money for 20 additional spaces.
Haggith says the demand for the program is huge.
Local Comox Valley MLA Don McRae says the Province has provided one-time funding for additional education spaces in health programs annually since 2008, and funding to date totals nearly $15 million, which has created more than 1,800 student spaces.
