Record number of passengers pass through Comox Valley Airport this summer

The Comox Valley Airport (YQQ) is reporting summer 2025 was their busiest ever.

The airport said new records for passenger volume have been set for June, July and August including more than 50,000 passengers in August alone, the most in a single month in the airport’s history.

Comox Valley Airport Commission board chair Bill Anglin said more customers and visitors took advantage of the services available at YQQ.

“Setting new records month after month this summer is a clear signal that the Comox Valley and Vancouver Island are thriving and connected regions.”

Passenger traffic was up 17 per cent in June, 16 per cent in July, and 15 per cent in August compared to the same months the previous year.

Overall volumes are up 14 per cent from the previous year, putting YQQ on pace to beat the previous passenger record in a year of over 420,000 in 2018 by a significant margin.

The record-setting summer was a result of the popular direct seasonal flights to Toronto Pearson International Airport, which had strong support from both Island residents and visitors.

“The success of our direct Toronto service in particular highlights how important these nonstop connections are for families, business, and tourism,” Anglin added.

The airport is getting ready to offer another popular seasonal route, with direct flights to Puerto Vallarta set to resume next month.
