Update: Highway 19A reopens following motor vehicle incident in Courtenay Friday

Update: 11:57 p.m.: Comox Valley RCMP say the road is now open.

Original Post: A collision has closed a section of Highway 19A in Courtenay.

RCMP say in a social media post it is closed between 17th street and Ryan Road and traffic is being diverted until further notice.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area if possible and consider using Veteran’s Memorial / Headquarters Road / Piercy Road to travel between Comox and Courtenay.
