Trevena weighs in on BC Ferries fares

BC Ferries fares are continuing to go up, according to North Island MLA and Ferries critic Claire Trevena.

The company’s Commissioner recently confirmed a 1.9 per cent price cap, per year, for BC Ferries fares from 2016 to 2020.

But Trevena says she’s still concerned about the future of fares at BC Ferries.

Trevena adds the price cap will affect ferry dependent communities.

Commissioner Gord Macatee says he doesn’t have the authority to roll back the fares, and keeping future increases in line with inflation will help affordability.
