Backyard Burning going full tilt–in rural areas

Time to spark up that backyard burn, at least for rural area residents.

Goat News spoke with Courtenay Fire Department Deputy Chief Kurt McDonald, who says burning has been given the green light in the Courtenay Fire Protection District.

And as for backyard burns in the City of Courtenay?

McDonald says the rural area burning season will go for a few months, and to nail down that burning permit for the Courtenay Fire Protection District, stop by the Courtenay Firehall Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The permit is free of charge.

For more information on fall burning, contact the Courtenay, Cumberland and Comox Fire Departments.
