There will be much more water flowing down the Campbell River starting today.
BC Hydro spokesperson Stephen Watson says at this time of year, they are increasing the river water flows to help spawning salmon, going from about 30 cubic metres per second to about 90.
Watson says this is a very significant increase in water flows, so the public is advised to be careful.
Watson says this increase is an annual regime aimed at providing deeper water conditions for successful spawning for the fall fisheries on the Campbell River.
