Plenty of bites for recreational fishers

An epic summer for recreational fishing in waters off the North Island and Sunshine Coast, with tourists from all over the world flocking to the region to try their luck out on the water. Andrew Thompson is the South Coast Area Director for the Department of Fisheries and Oceans.

Meanwhile Thompson confirms numerous fishing enthusiasts have been heading to Campbell River, where one area river has been a hot spot.

Thompson says there are several key factors behind huge runs of various fisheries this summer.

Thompson says the east coast of Vancouver Island, in the Comox Valley and Campbell River areas, have been especially strong for the recreational catch, in one of the busiest boating seasons in years.
