Comox Valley residents are being reminded to keep their pets leashed this spring and summer.
The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) said its bylaw team will actively patrol parks and trail systems and fine those who fail to follow dog-leashing or dog-under-control requirements.
Manager of parks Mark Harrison said concerns remain about dogs in parks chasing livestock and harassing residents and visitors.
“We need to ensure park users are respecting the mandatory leashing and dog-under-control requirements within our parks and trail systems.”
Harrison added that keeping dogs under control avoids fines and helps protect sensitive ecosystems, supports the agricultural community and ensures a welcoming experience for residents.
Residents who fail to keep their dogs leashed or under control could face a $100 fine.
