CVRD begins recruiting process for Comox Valley Housing Authority

People interested in helping create non-market rental housing in the Comox Valley are being sought.

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) is seeking qualified individuals to form the Comox Valley Housing Authority board of directors.

CVRD board chair Will Cole-Hamilton said the district is looking for individuals with expertise in housing development, operations, finance or the legal sector.

The newly formed entity marks a step toward improving housing affordability for low- to moderate-income residents.

The authority will play a central role in planning and facilitating non-market rental housing projects in collaboration with non-profit housing partners, local municipalities, senior levels of government and the private sector.

Applicants are encouraged from a range of backgrounds, including but not limited to:

  • housing development and operations
  • finance and capital delivery
  • real estate and corporate law
  • community partnerships
  • asset management
  • organizational governance and leadership

All appointments to the housing authority will be made by the CVRD board of directors.

Members will be expected to attend regular meetings and participate in governance activities.

Interested candidates can submit an application, including a résumé, by midnight on June 29.
