Two more seasonal farmers’ markets to begin operation next week

The Comox Valley Farmers’ Market is expanding its summer schedule with two additional seasonal markets starting next week.

The market association said its Wednesday market in Comox begins June 24, while its Sunday market in Cumberland opens June 28.

“The summer season is always a great time of year for us as we are able to expand our reach to Cumberland and Comox, providing increased access to fresh local foods to the residents of the Comox Valley,” said general manager Twila Skinner.

The organization said the seasonal markets will be smaller than its regular Saturday market at the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds, but many of the same vendors and products will still be available.

Live music, community groups, children’s activities and special events will also be featured at both locations.

The Wednesday market in Comox runs from June 24 to Sept. 16 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Comox Community Centre.

The Sunday market in Cumberland runs from June 28 to Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Village Square.
