Comox RCMP investigate motorcycle collision that left elderly man with serious injuries

Comox Valley RCMP are looking for witnesses to help with an investigation into a collision that left an elderly motorcycle rider with serious injuries.

Police say he was involved in a collision at or near the Comox Valley Parkway between 3:45 and 4:25 p.m. on June 29.

“The motorcyclist had already returned home before making the call and unfortunately had very little recollection of what happened,” reads a news release from RCMP. “Investigators examined the motorcycle and found evidence that a collision had occurred and that it likely occurred on the Comox Valley Parkway between Union Road and Cumberland Road; however, may have occurred in the areas of Hamm Road, Cumberland Road, Piercy Road, 19a and the Inland Island Highway in that area.”

Police say he required medical attention for serious, non-life-threatening injuries and he is recovering.

“We are hoping that anyone who may have been in the area during the relevant time frame, or who may have dashcam footage, or witnessed the collision, will come forward,” says const. Monika Terragni, media relations officer for the Comox Valley RCMP. “Even the smallest detail could help us to advance our investigation and determine exactly what happened.”

Anyone with information can contact the Comox Valley RCMP non-emergency line at 250-338-1321 and reference file number 2026-9920. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Comox Valley Crime Stoppers.
