Stage three water restrictions will take effect in Cumberland at the end of this week.
The stricter restrictions will start on Friday, July 10 to help reduce the demand on water supply and ensure an adequate amount of water for daily use and emergency fire suppression throughout the summer months.
Under stage three restrictions, watering lawns or a boulevard, filling a swimming pool, hot tub or garden pond, operating a non-re-circulating fountain and washing a vehicle or a boat with water is not permitted.
Additionally, any previously issued lawn watering permits will no longer be valid.
Water trees, shrubs, flowers and vegetables can be done any day between 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. if the watering is done by a hand-held container or a hose equipped with a shut-off nozzle.
