BC Hydro powering movie night in Comox with electric vehicle July 24

BC Hydro is bringing a unique outdoor movie experience to Comox later this month.

The utility said Marina Park will host Vancouver Island’s first free outdoor movie powered entirely by an electric vehicle on July 24.

The event, presented with Fresh Air Cinema, will replace traditional gas-powered generators with an EV charged using B.C.’s clean electricity.

“Events like this show how clean energy can support community life in new and inspiring ways — from powering homes and businesses to creating memorable moments for families,” said Charlotte Mitha, president and CEO of BC Hydro. “What excites us most is the combination of community, connection and innovation, and that we are able to build awareness of the work we’re doing beyond supplying electricity.”

The free event begins at 7 p.m., with the movie starting around 9:15 p.m. at sunset.
