Comox Valley RCMP investigations nets seizures of drugs, weapons

Comox Valley RCMP said several recent drug trafficking investigations in Courtenay have led to the seizure of suspected drugs, cash and weapons.

Police said three investigations between late June and early July resulted in the seizure of more than two kilograms of suspected illicit drugs, including fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine and methamphetamine.

The investigations involved traffic stops and the execution of a search warrant at a property on Back Road in Courtenay. Police said imitation firearms were also seized, creating a public safety concern because they can closely resemble real weapons.

Insp. Scott Mercer said the investigations show RCMP remain committed to disrupting drug trafficking in the Comox Valley.

“The safety of our community remains our highest priority,” said Mercer. “These investigations demonstrate our ongoing commitment to identifying and disrupting individuals involved in the trafficking of dangerous drugs in our community.”

Police said charges have been recommended or are expected in all three cases.
