RCMP’s Musical Ride set to take over the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds Wednesday

One of the RCMP’s long-standing traditions is coming to the Comox Valley this week.

The RCMP Musical Ride will take place at the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds on Wednesday, Aug. 5, with performances at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Cpl. Tori Cliffe said she hopes the event will be a great community and family-friendly experience.

“Horses have always been an intricate part of our lifestyle and our jobs and having the Musical Ride attend here for a community event is huge and it’s an honour to have them here and host them.”

The show features up to 32 riders, all of whom are police officers, and their horses performing intricate formations and drills set to music. The performance lasts about 30 minutes.

Before the Musical Ride begins, an RCMP police dog service demonstration will take place, showcasing the speed, obedience and working skills of highly trained police dogs.

“If you’ve never been to one this is such an iconic Canadian event to come to, I highly recommend everyone come out and get their tickets right away,” said Courtenay Mayor Bob Wells.

Tickets can be purchased online for either performance, with prices ranging from free entry to $20 depending on age.
