Some voters could be casting their ballots this weekend…advance polls are open today through Monday.

Like election day, voters have to go to an assigned polling station, listed on their Voter Information Cards. But, Dorothy Sitek of Elections Canada says there is another option for people who want, or need, to vote early.

Up until 6:00 pm on Tuesday, you can use a “special ballot” at any Elections Canada office.

Those ballots are blank and voters have to write-in the candidate and party of their choice.

All the same rules apply for advance voting that apply on election day, and you have to bring proper ID or have someone who can vouch for you. The rules are spelled out at the Elections Canada website.
