L’Arche housing project taking shape in Courtenay

L’Arche Comox Valley’s new housing project in Courtenay is moving along.

At an event Friday, Aug. 14, staff and core members showed off progress, with the foundation for its Anchorage building now in place.

Community leader and executive director Lynda Brosko said reaching this construction milestone gives staff and core members a better sense of what the new housing will look like.

“We had a lot to do in planning this project,” said Brosko. “There’s still lots of work to be done, especially around fundraising. We recognize the importance of getting people into safe homes, and have that support to get things going in their lives.”

The project is located at 1560 Grieve Ave. in Courtenay and will include multiple buildings, including two fourplexes and an amenity space, to house 15 people.

A waitlist has opened for L’Arche’s core members, with the first residents expected to move into the new units by mid-2027.
