North Island college prepare to invite students to Comox campus to kick off fall semester

North Island College will welcome new and returning students to its Comox Valley campus for orientation on Sept. 9.

“Orientation is about more than helping students find their classrooms. It’s about creating opportunities for connection, belonging and engagement from the very beginning,” said Kelly Shopland, vice-president, Students and Community Engagement. “We want every student to know that North Island College is a community where they can access support, build relationships and pursue their goals with confidence.”

The orientation will run from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. outside Discovery Hall.

This year, students can also access a new 2026 resource guide to help them navigate advising, financial aid and other student programs.

“Students are often surprised by the number of services available to support them,” said Craig Whitton, director of student affairs. “This guide brings those resources together in one place, making it easier for students to find help, build connections and access the supports they need throughout their educational journey.”

Orientation events will also be held at the Campbell River and Port Alberni campuses during the same week.
