For the Chipoco Alva family, who spent over 100 nights in the hospital while their twin boys were in the NICU, the Ronald McDonald House Family Room was a lifeline during incredibly difficult times. “As parents, all you want is to stay close to your children,” said mom Luciana.

Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon supports families who must travel for their child’s medical treatment, both at their 73-bedroom House and at their Family Rooms in Surrey, Kamloops and Prince George. BC families travel an average of 498 km to stay close to their seriously ill child, and Ronald McDonald House provides accommodation, meals and other programs, comfort and community when they need it most.
Eighteen per cent of families who stay Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon have a baby in the NICU, and like the Chipoco Alvas, often they need to stay for weeks or months while their children receive care.
