K’ómoks development corporation to purchase 40 Knots Winery

The K’ómoks Economic Development Corporation is buying 40 Knots Winery & Events Centre in the Comox Valley.

KEDC said the transaction is expected to be completed by the end of October.

“Acquiring 40 Knots Winery & Events Centre represents a significant step forward for KEDC,” said Mark Brajer, CEO of KEDC. “This investment advances our Strategic Plan objectives by enhancing the long-term sustainability and growth of our business portfolio. By integrating 40 Knots with our existing tourism assets, including the I-Hos Gallery and Puntledge RV Park & Campground, we are building a stronger, more diversified tourism and hospitality platform that will contribute to economic prosperity, employment opportunities, and community benefits for the K’ómoks First Nation.”

The economic development arm of the K’ómoks First Nation said the acquisition will expand its tourism and hospitality portfolio and create long-term economic opportunities for the Nation.

KEDC already owns the I-Hos Gallery and Puntledge RV Park & Campground.

The corporation said it intends to retain the employees at 40 Knots, recognizing their experience and relationships with the business.

“This acquisition represents an exciting new chapter for K’ómoks Economic Development Corporation and for our Nation,” said K’ómoks First Nation Elected Chief and KEDC Board member Nicole Rempel.

KEDC said 40 Knots will continue operating as a winery, event venue and tourism destination while providing opportunities to showcase the Comox Valley.
