Powell River RCMP have confirmed the identity of human remains located earlier this month. Police located the remains near Townsite in Powell River, close to the Wildwood Bridge on October 2nd.

Constable Tim Kenning says the remains were those of 35-year-old Charles Yvon Mercier, who was reported missing on September 22nd.

Kenning adds there are still many questions left unanswered, and that the investigation into this case is ongoing.
