Ear Cropping on Dogs Now Banned in BC

Dog Owners and breeders in the province can no longer get their pets’ ears cropped by veterinarians.

Earlier this week, the ban was set in place and veterinarians are overjoyed with the news. Merecroft Village vet in Campbell River, Hellen Kwong, says this was only a cosmetic fad and had no actual medical reasoning behind it.

Kwong says it took a long time because there was such a strong lobby from dog breeders who liked the look of dogs with cropped ears.
