Public flu shot clinics are set to begin this week.
Island Health’s influenza vaccine program will provide over 240,000 doses of influenza vaccine to eligible individuals over the next few months.
Medical Health Officer for the North Island, Dr. Charmaine Enns says getting your flu shot helps to protect those with weakened immune systems. Enns says getting vaccinated not only protects you, but also protects those who may have complications from the flu, such as those with diabetes, pregnant women, young children and the elderly.
Dr. Enns says you can get your vaccine up to the end of March.
