BC Hydro increases Puntledge water flows for flood risk management

BC Hydro is spilling extra water past the Comox dam and down the Puntledge River.

Utilities spokesperson Stephen Watson says the main reasoning behind this is to keep the reservoir under control.

Watson says residents should be careful around certain areas because flows are faster than normal.

Watson says Hydro is also keeping tabs on a storm that may hit the area on Monday. He says BC Hydro prefers the reservoir to be around 133.5 to 134 metres for this time of year for flood risk management operational flexibility.
