Increased funding for MRI services

The head of medical imaging with Island Health is welcoming increased funding for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) services.

The province has announced a new strategy, which includes funds to increase the number of scans.

Director of Medical Imaging with Island Health, Bob Brandt says the demand for MRI continues to grow as the technology improves.

Brandt says there have been huge improvements in the technology.

Brandt notes that the demand for MRI on the island has gone up 25 percent over the last year.
