The First Nations Health Authority is celebrating a record number of graduates from the First Nations First Responders program.
The graduates included representatives from a number of Nations on Vancouver Island, including Quatsino and Ka:’yu:’k’t’h’.
Spokesperson Brennan MacDonald says 118 graduates have received their certification this year.
MacDonald says the program was developed in partnership with the Red Cross.
Through the program, community staff and/or volunteers are being trained and licensed to provide pre-hospital emergency care, enhancing capacity directly in their own community to save lives.
