Mounties catch highway speeders on Family Day

Mounties are reminding drivers to slow down after catching more than two dozen speeding drivers on the holiday Monday.

Constable Rob Gardner of the Comox Valley RCMP says Mounties had set up speed enforcement on the Inland Island Highway.

He says of the 25 violators that were stopped, 22 of them were going in excess of 40 km/h over the posted speed limit.

Mounties also nabbed a driver going 165 km/h in a 120 km/h zone on the highway near Trent River. The driver was issued an excessive speeding ticket and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
