The importance of smoke alarms

The Comox Fire Chief says several fires over the last week demonstrate the importance of having working smoke alarms.

Gord Schreiner says it’s been a busy week, with crews responding to almost 20 calls, including a number of fires.

Schreiner says a working smoke alarm is one of the best safety investments you can make, as they alert home owners and neighbors.

It was also a busy week for other emergency crews with multiple calls, including a structure fire in Oyster River and several motor vehicle incidents throughout the Comox Valley.
