A new ocean community observatory will soon be installed in the waters off Campbell River.
The observatory is part of a project by Ocean Networks Canada.
Spokesperson Maia Hoeberechts says it will be installed right off Discovery Pier and will provide real-time data that will be available online.
She says the observatory will be used to gather baseline data on things like noise in the marine environment.
Hoeberechts says the goal is to gather base-line data for conditions on the coast.
Observatories will be installed in Prince George and Kitamaat later this month.
