New tools for Oyster River Fire Department

Oyster River Fire Department crews have received some new tools to remove crash victims from vehicles.

Fire Chief Bruce Green says the tools will help crews remove victims quickly. Green notes if they don’t have the right tools to do the job, it will take much longer to get the patient out.

Green says the new equipment replaces old cutters. He says it’s extremely important for crews to have good extraction equipment in order to get patients out of vehicles as quickly as possible.

He adds that the cutters were purchased thanks to a donation from the Oyster River Volunteer Fire Fighters Association.
