The first annual Courtenay Spring Social was a huge success.
Event spokesperson Rod Hunter says they are still doing the final tally, but it look like the event raised close to $30,000.
Hunter says funds raised will help the development of different youth projects in the Comox Valley.
Hunter notes the Province donated $10,000 – which he says was a pleasant surprised presented by local MLA Don McRae.
Hunter says the event would not have been possible without the support from the community and all the sponsors who came forward to help.
He says the event was so successful that there’s already talk of doing it again next year.
