Puntledge River generating station back in service

Residents are being urged to steer clear of parts of the Puntledge River this weekend.

Spokesperson Stephen Watson says the Puntledge River Generating Station is back on as of today after being shut down for some repair work.

Watson says the generating station was pulled from service in March after a shaft overheated, but at the time the river was running high and crews had to wait in order to get in and complete repairs.

Watson says the river flows will be increased to bring the station back into service.

He says people should use caution around the river today as the flows are increased, specifically in the Nymph Falls, Stoten Falls, and Barber’s Hole areas.
